Easy Sweet & Salty Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

Who here loves a good sweet and salty treat? If that’s you, you’ll love these easy sweet & salty chocolate-covered potato chips! They’re seriously easy to make and seriously delicious. Perfect for a late-night snack, movie night, or as a gift for a friend. Are you looking to impress a big crowd? This recipe is for you because you only need TWO ingredients; chocolate chips and potato chips! If you want to learn how to make these, keep reading!

How To Make Chocolate-covered Potato chips

Step 1: Melt Chocolate

Oh my gosh you guys, these take no time to make! First thing you need to do is melt your chocolate chips. I prefer to use a double boiler. All you need is a pot filled halfway with water and either a metal or glass bowl that fits on top. Simply bring your water to a boil, add chocolate chips to the bowl and let them melt. Stir occasionally until your chocolate is nice and silky looking. I prefer this method because it’s quick, you have more control, and you avoid the chance of your chocolate burning.

If you prefer to use a microwave, make sure you’re using ten second increments between stirring. You’ll also need to be very careful not to burn your chocolate!

Step 2: Dip

After your chocolate is nice a melted, lay some parchment paper on your countertop. This is where you’re going to let your chips dry. Now that you’re all set up, let’s get dipping! Dip your chips into the chocolate and shake them a little to let the excess fall off. Lay them on the parchment paper.

The thicker the chocolate layer, the longer they’ll take to dry, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to gift these to someone. Before your chips are totally dry, this is when you’ll want to add any toppings. I chose to add a little extra sea salt on top, but you can use:

  • Sprinkles
  • Pretzels
  • A drizzle of white chocolate
  • Crushed nuts
  • Whatever your heart desires!

Once your chips are dry, put them in an airtight container to keep them fresh. You can put them in the refrigerator to keep the chocolate from melting again.

  • 12oz semisweet chocolate chips
  • 5 cups Ruffles Chips
Instructions
  1. Melt the chocolate in the microwave or double boiler. If usuingthe mircowave, set timer to ten sencondsbetween stirs. Make sure the chocolate doesn't burn!

  2. Dip potato chip in the melted chocolate

  3. Set chip down on parchment paper to dry. Drying time will depend on how thick your chocolate layer is.

  4. Add any extra toppings you like! Make sure to do this before the chocolate dries.
