Pull-apart Nutella & Marshmallow Pastry

Pull-apart Nutella & Marshmallow Pastry

The holiday season is officially upon us, and you know what that means! ALL THE FOOD! Gifts are fun and all, but food? Yeah, I’m all about the food! Speaking of gifts, check out my gift guides here. How many of you are going to a Christmas party but don’t know what to bring? May I suggest this recipe I’m about to share with you? Pull-apart Nutella & Marshmallow Pastry, not only is it delicious, but it’s guaranteed to impress because it’s pretty too! I mean, look at it! It is also great because it can be customized. Don’t like Nutella? You’re kind of weird but ok, switch it out for peanut butter or a cookie butter! It’s up to you! This is also something you can make the day of your even or whatnot! Let’s get baking!

…Sorry for calling you weird, btw, I didn’t mean it entirely.

Bake your pastry

This is so easy to make! The hardest part is actually the first part, cutting your dough into a Christmas tree. Once that’s done, it’s smooth sailing! I started by cutting small sections off until I got the shape I wanted. Once you have it the way you want, spread the bottom layer with as much Nutella as you want! Then you’re going to sprinkle on your mini marshmallows

If you didn’t cut your second piece of dough already, do that now. I didn’t cut my two pieces at the same time, so what I did was lay the top section and hope for the best when I was cutting it into shape. Take your knife and cut horizontal strips to create “branches.” Then take each piece and twist it. I twisted each one 2-3 times. Spread some egg wash on the top and pop it into the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes. Once, it’s puffy and golden brown, take it out of the oven to cool for 10 minutes. Sprinkle it with powder sugar and serve it up!

Tips

Here are my top three tips I learned while making this:

  1. Use a Silpat sheet, on top of your baking sheet, if you can. It makes it easier to remove after it’s cooked.
  2. Roll out your pastry sheet to make them larger. The dough will puff up in the oven, so make sure it isn’t too thick.
  3. If your dough has been out for too long, it won’t rise properly. Pop your pastry in the freezer for a couple of minutes before you put it in the oven.

Course: Dessert
Ingredients
  • 2 Sheets Puff Pastry Thawed but cold
  • 1/4 Cup Nutella
  • 1/4 Cup Mini Marshmallow Halved
  • Egg Wash
Instructions
  1. Thaw your puff pastry dough in the refrigerator overnight.

  2. Preheat your oven to 425℉.

  3. Lay one sheet of puff pastry on a non-stick baking sheet. Use a rolling pin to flatten it to the desired thickness.

  4. Cut your puff pastry into the tree shape.

  5. Spread Nutella all over the bottom layer and sprinkle the marshmallows on top.

  6. Place your second sheet of puff pastry on top and trim the edges to match the bottom piece.

  7. Slice the sides of the tree shape to create branches. Once the pieces are cut, twist them to create the spiral effect.

  8. Paint the top of your pastry with the egg wash and pop it into the oven to bake for 15-20 minutes!

  9. Let cool for 10-15 minutes. Serve with warmed Nutella to dip!
