Spring decor 1

Spring is in the air! Ok, maybe not right now because winter won’t go away, but soon. I’m someone who gets tired of looking at the same decor all of the time, this is why I love to decorate seasonally. Sure, this sounds expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are my five tips on how to decorate for spring on a budget. Scroll down to the bottom to shop cute spring decor!

#1 Colour Pallet

What do you think of when you hear the word “spring”? Flowers! Flowers come in all colours: pinks, blues, purples, yellows, greens, etc. These are the perfect colours to use in your spring decor! Look for a throw blanket or a pillow. If extra pillows and blankets aren’t your thing, bring in some flowers or other types of plants!

#2 Mix Flowers

Nothing says “Spring” more than bouquets of flowers. The only problem is that they can be pricey at times and tend to die easily. This is why I like to mix flowers; both real and fake! I like to buy a bouquet and split it between my kitchen and my living room. As for fake flowers, I like to buy them at the dollar store. Sure, they aren’t the most convincing, but they only cost $2.00 per stem. Once you mix them in the with real flowers, you won’t notice they’re fake.

#3 Multifunctional Pieces

These are going to be pieces that you can use for multiple seasons. In my case, I have a yellow lantern that I use for both spring and summer. I also have a marquee light that works for all seasons. All you have to do is change up the sayings! Not only do these pieces work for more than one season, they function as extra lighting as well. Lighting not your thing? Buy a glass canister and fill it with your favourite seasonal items! As you can see below, I’ve filled mine with little fake flowers and it only cost me $6.00!

#4 D.I.Y. Decor

Don’t want to spend a bunch of money? Go hit up your local dollar store and make your own decor! I do this with artwork. A canvas, paint, and brushes costs around $10 depending on how many different colours you want to use. You can paint scenery, flowers, or something a little more abstract. Getting to be creative is the fun part!

#5 Shop In Stages

Don’t ever feel like you need to purchase everything this season. Part of the fun is collecting a new piece or two every year. Take this lantern pictured below, I’ve had this for years! Same with the little blue vase! Part of the fun is trying to find new ways to use decorations that you’ve had for a while. If you’re in the market for some spring decor, here’s where I like to shop:

  • HomeSense/HomeGoods
  • Ikea
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Dollarama
