- 3/4 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 Tbsp Yello Onion finely diced
- 5 tsp White Wine Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Ketchup
- 2 Tbsp Sour Cream
- 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1/4 tsp Onion Powder
- 2 tsp Sugar
- Salt & Pepper
- Olive Oil
-
Preheat your oven to 425℉. Wash and dry all of your produce.
-
Cut potatoes into wedges. 1/2 inch thick works best. If you like thicker potatoes, cook them for longer.
-
Finely dice the onion, leaving 1 TBSP to the side.
-
After you cut your potatoes into wedges, toss them in a drizzle of olive oil, 3/4 tsp of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Lay them on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Plan to cook them longer if your wedges are thick.
-
Combine 1Tbsp of diced onion with white wine vinegar, 1tsp of sugar, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl. Let this sit to pickle for 15 minutes.
-
Add the ketchup, sour cream, mustard, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 tsp of sugar into another bowl. Mix to combine.
-
After the onions have pickled for 15 minutes, drain and mix the onions into the sauce mix.
-
Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add the rest of the onion and cook until browned and softened. Season with salt and pepper. Place them to the side.
-
Form two patties and season with salt and pepper.
-
Heat some oil in a large pan on medium-high heat. Add your patties and cook on each side for 3-5 minutes.
-
Once you flip, add your cheese and let it melt.
-
Toast your buns.
-
When everything is cooked, it's time to eat! Spread the secret sauce on both buns. Top with your burger, cooked onions, and any other topping you might like!
How To Make Special Sauce Burgers
Prep your ingredients
The very first thing you’ll want to do is to preheat your oven to 425℉. Be sure to wash and dry all of your produce if you plan in using more toppings. If not, it’s time to chop! Cut potatoes into wedges. I think 1/2″ thick works the best for a crisp outside and fluffy inside. If you like thicker cut potato wedges, you’ll need to cook them for longer. Finely dice the onion and leave 1 TBSP to the side. This will be going into the special sauce!
Potato Wedges
These are super easy! ready? After you cut your potatoes into wedges, toss them in a drizzle of olive oil, 3/4 tsp of garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Lay them on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes. Again, plan to cook them longer if your wedges are thick.
Make The Special Sauce
Special sauce time! grab a small bowl and combine 1Tbsp of thinly diced onion with white wine vinegar, 1tsp of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Let this sit to pickle for 15 minutes. Feel free to mix it around every now and then to make sure all onions are pickling evenly.
Now, add the ketchup, sour cream, mustard, 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1 tsp of sugar into another bowl. Mix to combine. After the onions have pickled for 15 minutes, drain and mix the onions into the sauce mix. Just set the sauce to the side until you’re ready to assemble the burgers. You can also keep it in the refrigerator.
Cook The Onion & Burgers
First, form two patties and season with salt and pepper. Let the meat get to room temperature or close enough to it if you’re impatient!
Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium to medium-high heat. Add the rest of the onion and cook until browned and softened. Don’t forget to season with salt and pepper. Once they’re your preferred color, place them to the side on a plate.
In that same pan you cooked the onions in, heat some oil on medium-high heat. Add your patties and cook on each side for 3-5 minutes. If you can get a nice crispy crust on the outside, that’s even better!
Once you flip the patties, add your cheese and let it melt while the second side cooks. While your patties are cooking, toast your buns.
Now it’s time to assemble and eat! Place your bottom bun on the plate and top with a generous amount of special sauce. Place your cheeseburger down on top and top it with the onions. Top with some more sauce and your top bun and ENJOY!
