The older I get, the more important skin care becomes. When I was younger, in high school, I had pretty good skin. It could get pretty oily at times but I never had any trouble with acne. Once I hit my early 20’s, that’s when I started to have some issues. I was out partying, sleeping in makeup, eating horribly, and stressed from school. All those factors left my skin oily in areas, dry in others, with at least one blemish to cover up. I tried a variety of products but never felt like I was getting my skincare regime down. Almost 10 years later, I feel like I’ve gotten to a place where I’m happy with my skin. As someone who has sensitive skin, it’s very important to find products that don’t irritate it, and it’s harder than you’d think! This is why I decided to share my favourite skincare products with you.
Let’s start with cleansers!
Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash:
This is my go-to and I am totally obsessed with this cleanser! First of all, it smells amazing. It contains coconut water and sea algae complex, which makes it smell like mermaid cupcakes; sweet, but also kind of salty. This cleanser is so gentle on my skin and the antioxidants leave it feeling clean and soft. It is very bubbly, so a little goes a long way. No seriously, the first time I used it, I almost choked on bubbles. It is suitable for all skin types as well.
Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleaning Face Wash:
When I’m in the need of a good deep cleaning, this is what I reach for. It contains coconut water, clay, and super greens, so it smells quite… green. Not in a bad way though! This cleanser is targeted towards the oily and acne prone skin, which is usually something I tend to stay away from since I’m quite sensitive, but it doesn’t dry my skin out at all. This one is also very bubbly, so use a very small amount!
Bonus: These cleansers are sulphate-free, 100% vegan, cruelty-free, and you can find it in Target!
Foreo Luna:
This is a sonic powered facial cleansing brush. What I do is wet it, pop a little bit of my cleanser on it, and move it all over my face! It has little, silicone bristles that pulsate and help exfoliate your face without causing irritation. The silicone is great because it’s very easy to clean, hygienic, and 100% waterproof! It comes with a charger and lasts for up to 450 uses, per full charge. It can be a little pricey for some, but considering that you never have to buy replacement brush attachments or batteries, it’s so worth it! Since I’ve been using it, I’ve noticed a huge change in my skin; It’s brighter, smoother, and my pores look smaller. I can’t recommend this enough!
Next stop: Exfoliants
Pacifica Glow Baby Youth Salvation Walnut Scrub:
I love this stuff. Most exfoliants are made with little plastic beads. At first, I thought this was pretty cool, but then I heard about how they’re attributing to water pollution and that was enough to change my mind. This exfoliant is made out of coconut, walnut, rose hips, and flax! It smells quite warm and earthy with the scents of geranium and flax. The exfoliating pieces are very fine, so it won’t cause irritation to your skin. It targeted for all skin types as well as being 100% vegan, cruelty-free.
The Face Shop White Jewel Peeling:
This was given to me by my best friend, good looking out girl! It is very different from any other product I’ve ever used. You wet your face slightly and rub it into your skin, a few seconds later, it starts to ball up. It’s almost as if your dead skin cells are sticking together and then falling off of your face. Attractive, I know, but it is so cool! When all of the product is balled up, I rinse my face with warm water. After that, my skin feels so incredibly smooth!
Last stop: Moisturizer
Pacifica Coconut Probiotic Water Rehab Cream:
Surprise, surprise, another Pacifica product! I swear this #notspon, I just really love their products! This is my everyday moisturizer. It’s light-weight, oil-free, and smells like coconut. This leaves my skin hydrated and looking dewey, not oily! What more could you ask for?
Tarte Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer:
This completely saved my skin this winter. It is a water-based gel that, not only restores moisture in your skin but plumps and cools. It smells really good too, it’s very fresh. Now, it’s a little more on the pricey side, but it’s totally worth it. A little bit goes a long way, I hardly dip my finger into it.
Tarte Maracuja Oil:
Another pricey Tarte product, but also worth it. This has also been a saving grace for me this winter. After cleansing and moisturizing, I pat a few drops into my skin. Putting it over moisturizer helps lock it into your skin, adding extra moisture, which is perfect for when my skin is super dry in the winter! It’s oil, so this might not be for you if you’re skin is already oily.
Bonus: These Tarte products are also vegan!
