Wrapping Paper

Paper gift wrap is the most common way to wrap a gift, obviously. I mean, wrapping is in its name! But for something so common, it sure does have a lot of pros and cons! Let’s get into that, shall we?

Pros:

  1. Easily accessible
  2. It comes in a vast variety of colours and patterns
  3. Budget-friendly
  4. Eco-friendly options (Here’s a great eco-friendly brand Wrappily)
  5. You can use any kind of paper as well if you choose to go the recycled route.

Cons:

  1. Get’s put into the trash when it’s done most of the time
  2. Not everyone has the skills to wrap gifts. Come on, we all know that one person who can’t wrap a gift to save their lives!
  3. It’s hard to wrap odd-shaped gifts
  4. Some are harder to use than others. Anything too textured will not stick to the tape, so keep that in mind!

Fabric wrapping

Have you ever used fabric to wrap a gift? There’s something so pleasing to the eye when I see a beautiful scarf being used as gift wrap. Not only is it beautiful, but it adds an extra little touch. It can also be used over again and produces less waste because the recipient can wear it!

Pros:

  1. Visually pleasing to the eye
  2. Will stand out amongst the other gifts
  3. Can be reused and worn

Cons:

  1. Can cost more than a roll of wrapping paper
  2. Could be difficult to find the right size

Gift Bags

Gift bags are perfect for items that are a weird shape and hard to wrap, if you have multiple items you are gifting to someone, and if you’re strapped on time. Depending on how big of a bag you need, they’re pretty inexpensive. Another reason why I love gift bags is that you can keep them and use them again. In fact, you can use them way more than twice as long as you store them properly.

Pros:

  1. Takes less effort and skill
  2. Can be reused a number of times
  3. You can put multiple items in one bag
  4. Helps when you have an odd-shaped gift.

Cons:

  1. It can be tough finding a size you need
  2. Storing them can be annoying

Gift Boxes

Gift boxes are another great way to package a gift. Boxes work best for items that are oddly shaped and clothing. If wrapped, both things are easily identified and let’s face it, we all want a little sense of “Oh I wonder what this could be!” Right?

Pros:

  1. Takes minimal effort
  2. Can be reused
  3. Can find eco-friendly options

Cons:

  1. Might need a little more decorating
  2. Can be difficult to find the size you need

Who’s down to add a little pizazz? These are necessary, but for sure make an impact. I don’t know about you, but I get extra excited to receive a gift that’s been beautifully decorated.
