Dressing For Fall

Fall is here, and guess who’s excited! I am! I know loving fall makes me #Basic, but whatever. Many of you might be sad to see summer go, R.I.P., but fall can be just as great if not better.

A lot of people love fall for the apple picking, pumpkin patches, and the ever so popular P.S.L. (pumpkin spice latte for those of you who live under a rock.); but I love fall for the chilly weather, not being a sweaty mess, spooky stuff, and most of all… CLOTHING.  Seriously! I love layering and having so many clothing options to choose from! However, I’m a creature of habit, and I have what I like to call my “uniform.” Black skinny jeans, a comfy shirt, a statement jacket or boot, and a beanie (usually the same one I always wear, but I’m looking to branch out this year lol.)

If you want to be the coziest person this fall, take a look at some options I’ve so graciously picked out for you!

Comfy Shirts

Sweaters and hoodies are the ultimate comfy items. Obviously, we want to be comfortable, but sometimes warmer clothing tends to be itchy, and we don’t have time for that. Opt for sweaters and shirts that are made out of cotton. For an extra level of comfort, wear tops that have a little give to them so you can use them as layering pieces… or to make room for your food baby.

Black Skinny Jeans

Listen, black goes with everything! They don’t have to be plain black either, try wearing some with embellishments on them or venture out into different fabrics like leather, faux leather. Black doesn’t have to be boring! If you’re like me and have a hard time finding pants that fit because you’re so freaking short, may I suggest you give American Eagle Outfitters a try? No, this post isn’t sponsored, although I wish it were, I’m just a huge fan of their jeans. They come in short, regular, and long, and are so stretchy and comfortable!

Jackets

Jackets are probably one of my favourite items of clothing, to be honest. Why? Not sure, but I freaking love them! Leather, suede, denim, faux-fur, teddy, puffy, classic, wild, the options are endless! If you live in a cold climate, then chances are that your jacket wearing days are numbered before it’s time to put the parka on, so enjoy them while you can! Also, don’t forget to check out my post on styling a leopard print coat!

Booties

This is another favourite of mine. So many options to chose from and you can be as wild or as subdued as you’d like! My personal favourite is a good black leather bootie with some metal details; however, I aspire to have a boot collection that rivals Harry Styles. Have you seen his choice of footwear? Impeccable! I have tiny feet, 4.5-5 North American sizing, and it’s so hard to find cute shoes! So, I’m going to throw this out into the universe: Dear shoe companies, I would very much love to help you design shoes for small feet. We need better options. I’m available at any time, so hit me up!

Welcome to Struggle City!

Anyways, here are some options I loved!

Scarves

Scarves are another way of amping up your outfit! Do you feel like you’re missing something when you look in the mirror? Throw a scarf on! I should clarify: I mean aesthetically missing something, a scarf will not help you fill a void, I’m sorry. This is another thing where the options are endless. Different colours, materials, prints, sizes, and styles. Go crazy with it! Maybe not Lenny Kravitz type of crazy, but hey, if you can pull off wearing a scarf that big then maybe you should go for it! Who am I to tell you what to wear? If you have no idea what I’m talking about Google “Lenny Kravitz scarf.”

Beanies

Not everyone looks good in hats, but for some reason beanies are passable. I envy people who look good in hats, like my friend Keri (the hat queen). Either way, you have to keep your head warm, so I always opt for a beanie. They’re comfy, warm, and come in a wide variety of shapes and colours. I particularly love them on bad hair days, pop one on, and no one will know! I’m also a fan of ear warmers. Head warmers? Honestly, I have no idea what they’re called, but they work too. They’re great for days you have a nice updo going on and don’t want to squash it with a hat.
