Summer is here, and for many people, that means trips to the beach! I’m sure we all have our go-to’s or favourite things to bring with us, but I thought I’d share my beach essentials with you. I’ve also taken the time to source some items for you, so if it’s something you’re interested in or don’t have yet you’ve got some options. Most of these items are from Amazon, so if you don’t have amazon prime yet, click here to get your free trial! Why Amazon Prime? Two words: Two-day shipping! Let’s get started, shall we!
What to wear
Swimwear!
This is an obvious choice for the beach unless you’re one of those weird people who like to go to the beach in jeans. Click here to read my post on cute and affordable swimwear! I’m talking about my favourite stores that help me feel cute and make my wallet smile.
Flip Flops/ Slides
The beach is covered in sand, and sand and shoes do not mix well. Well, sand and most things don’t mix well, like sand and certain body parts, but that’s beside the point. You need something that you won’t be picking sand out of for months. Sometimes the sand is scorching hot too, so opt for footwear that is easy to put on and take off! You can find flip-flops everywhere, so I’ve linked some cute slides down below!

Coverup
While you probably want to get a tan, you might want to cover up a little bit to prevent or cover up a sunburn. Coverups are perfect because they do their job while keeping you cool and letting the nice ocean breeze in. Sometimes when people think of coverups, they think of a muumuu but I’m here to tell you that there are tons of cute options out there! Here are some cute coverups I found online!
CHECK THEM OUT
Sunscreen
This is a non-negotiable item. If you are going out in the sun, you need to protect your skin! And if you’re like me and burn easily, you need to be diligent about reapplying it. Sun damage is NOT something you want to mess around with. I’d link my favourites, but honestly, the brand doesn’t matter. Just use it!
Sunglasses/Hat
While sunscreen protects your skin, have you thought about how to protect your scalp and eyes? This is why sunglasses and hats are so important! I don’t look great in hats, but high five if you do, I’m jealous! Here are some cute sunglasses and hat options:

Water Shoes
Ok, so this one isn’t crucial. It really just comes down to preference. Personally, no matter what the type of body of water I’m in if something touches my foot, I’m out of there! Water shoes are perfect for that; you don’t have to worry about stepping on anything.
What to bring
Beach bag
Who hates carrying too many bags? I know I do! So it’s very important to have a bag that will fit everything I need; towel, sunscreen, magazines, etc. Some of these bags even have a cooler attached to them, score!
CHECK THEM OUT
Towel
You can’t forget your towel! Who really wants to lay right in the sand? Not me! I’m not interested in picking sand out of certain body parts for the next three months. When I was younger, a towel was just a towel, but now you can get towels in all shapes, sizes, materials, and functions. Some of them I’ve listed below have pillows built in, secret pockets, and even better, they’re sand RESISTANT! YES PLEASE!

Cooler
Beaches are hot; hot weather makes you sweat, sweating makes you dehydrated. How do we fix this? Coolers filled with drinks. Just like towels, they’ve come a long way! Some have wheels, and others have built-in speakers, some even have freaking blender attachments. What a world we live in! Check them out below!
CHECK THEM OUT
Waterproof speakers
Music and a great playlist add to the whole vibe of the day, so having some waterproof speakers with you is a great idea. There is a rule to this though: Do NOT be the person who makes everyone else listen to their music, not everyone wants to hear shitty house music all day. Be respectful and keep the volume down, ok? Here are some great options if you don’t have a speaker built into your beach bag or cooler:

A Good Book/ Magazine
Swimming in the water and playing in the sand is fun, but sometimes you just need to take a break and relax. What’s a better way to relax than reading a good book or magazine? Magazines are great if you want to browse or take fun quizzes, but books are great if you want to get lost in a story. Recently I’ve been a real self-help junkie! I wrote a blog post about all of the books I’ve read and loved in the past year. Click here to read my post on 10 Self Help Books You Need To Read.
Snacks
Last, but certainly not least, are snacks. Actually, this is probably one of the most important parts because your girl likes to eat! Since it’s hot and sandy, it’s best to pack snacks that are easy to eat and travel well! Try my chocolate chip cookies or pumpkin muffins! They’re super yummy and are very easy to pack and take with you.
So, those are all of my beach essentials! I know there’s a lot, so thank you for sticking around to check them all out! I hope you got some great ideas and found some new essentials of your own! What are some of your beach essentials? Leave a comment down below!
